OUR MISSIONS PARTNERS

Local Partners

Our "Jerusalem"

Arlington Food Assistance Center

(AFAC)

Members of Memorial are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable goods to church which are shared with AFAC each month. AFAC distributes groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs. The AFAC box is located in the Fellowhsip Hall, and members are encouraged to bring food to place in the box for donation.

Christ House

The mission of Christ House is to provide comprehensive and compassionate health care to sick, homeless persons in the District of Columbia, and to assist them in addressing critical issues to help break the cycle of homelessness. Memorial partners by occasionally preparing a meal for Christ House participants and financially through our Global Missions Plan.

3 Strands Community Church

Riddle Fund

Angel Tree

Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington

Brother's Brother Foundation

Pathforward (formerly ASPAN)

Members and friends of Memorial prepare 80 meals for Arlington's homeless once a month. Our cooking team can always use some extra hands to help prepare and serve the meals, which takes only a few hours each month. The hot meals are prepared on the third Sunday afternoon each month, and delivered directly to homeless and needy people at two locations in our community.

City Gate

City Gate is an urban ministry in Washington, DC, seeking to open doors of opportunity, empowerment, and friendship for youth in the city and for internationals.  City Gate seeks to renew communities by empowering those on the margins of society, create partnerships that address the needs of urban youth, and to harness the energy and abilities of volunteers.  Memorial partners with one of the City Gate sites: Overland Garden Apartment (Landover, MD).  We come alongside the Overland Garden children and their site director, Amie, for a few days in the summer as they go to summer camp as well as helping provide supplies for the program throughout the year.

Our "Samaria"

Kentucky Mountain Mission Team (KMMT)

Memorial has a partnership with the 6th grade class in Owsley County, KY in the Appalachian Mountains through Eastern Kentucky CBF.  Owsley County is one of the poorest counties in the US.  Memorial helps provide school supplies and other needs that the 6th grade class needs throughout the school year.  In Owsley County many students drop out of school after 6th grade.  MBC also takes mission trips every few years.  We do field trips with the 6th graders and building repair for members of Owsley County.  MBC supports and partners with Paula Settel, CBF field personnel.
